So I decided to check out Photosynth and I came across this message:

Unfortunately, we're not cool enough to run on your OS yet. We really wish we had a version of Photosynth that worked cross platform, but for now it only runs on Windows.

Understandable, I mean it's a "New Windows Feature", but then I saw this:

Trust us, as soon as we have a Mac version ready, it will be up and available on our site.

MAC? I'm Running Ubuntu here! ... I think... Maybe my computer is having an identity crisis. XD

So we are going over a "once have to purchased" mech game which then was released as FREE as of December of 2007. I have found though however, the original Linux installer to be corrupted from Garage Games website. So with Hen and Peking, I discovered what works, ad how to also troubleshoot it.

Mixed messages from Linux Expo Coverage PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 11 August 2008

So been reading up on the buzz on Ubuntu, IBM , etc, etc. If you read one thing, it sounds like in half years time, something dramatic is going to happen. Then your thrown off by another article, as if they are playing down the buzz. Then you hear "Well, enterprise is where Linux will grow..". Then is then by another article.. "Little pocket laptop's are popular with women."

It goes on and on. You hear skepticism, and praise all in one spoonful. I understand one editors point of view on why it is happening, and then take a step back hearing good points from another with honest concerns. My problem with this is,it sounds like so many industries are wanting to change for the better, but then worry so much of making the wrong choices, they are not willing to put their butt on the line.

I understand those out there are scared of not hearing every OEM PC vendor out there with the same message, but obviously many are ready to move forward once they see others step in the circle of bringing a Linux Desktop platform for end users. They all want it. It's obvious!

So why are so many companies not talking about this amongst each other? I think until either one of these major vendors pushes forward adding a hole campaign with ad space online, making there system in stores. It will be a small new face that will that found the right formula to bring it to the mainstream. While these bigger guys dance around it and petty around it, someone is going tok take the Apple strategy and sell a complete bundle setup, with packages of both free and commercial applications and associated accessories.

It only takes more talks about this, and those out there to keep going forward. It's a matter of time.
